Volunteer Opportunities

As a professional, nonprofit arts organization, Capital Stage is always looking for mature, responsible volunteers who want to contribute their time and skills to the development of Sacramento’s bold, forward-thinking theatre. Currently, Capital Stage is seeking the following volunteer assistance:

  • Theatre Ushers
Our friendly ushers greet patrons at the door, hand out programs, help them find their seat and assist our house manager to make the audience feel comfortable. Ushers arrive at the theatre one hour before a performance to prepare the house and stay until the theatre has been cleared of all patrons. Ushers are given complimentary seats to the performance, based on availability.
  • Cleaning Crew
On occasion, Capital Stage uses the help of volunteers to make our space performance-ready. From vacuuming and dusting, to moving furniture and scenic materials, these volunteers help keep Capital Stage comfortable for our patrons.
  • Administrative Help
From mailings to data entry, photocopying and filing, we have plenty of tasks for the office-oriented volunteer.
  • Carpenter/Electrician/Painter
If you have experience in any of these areas and would like to work on the build of a production set, our Technical Director will assign you a project that is a specific match for your skills and availability.
  • Costumes/Wardrobe
Volunteers with basic seamstress skills are needed to assist our costume designers on the costume build and maintenance. Specific projects and time commitments vary depending on the production.
  • Fundraising Committee Members
Capital Stage has a number of exciting fundraising events planned throughout the year. If you have event coordinating or fundraising experience, we can use your skills!
