Left quad. Right quad. Lunge. A girl’s indoor soccer team warms up. From the safety of their suburban stretch circle, the team navigates big questions and wages tiny battles with all the vim and vigor of a pack of adolescent warriors. A portrait of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for nine American girls who just want to score some goals.

PERFORMANCE LENGTH: 90 minutes, no intermission

“This production does something SPECTACULAR, almost impossible, in creating not one, not two, but NINE CHARACTERS that are COMPLEX & MULTIDIMENSIONAL, each exhibiting growth as the soccer season progresses.” VOICES: RIVER CITY

“This is a STELLAR CAST of nine talented young actors, each displaying their distinct personality as well as coordinated teamwork, all under the TIGHT DIRECTION of Nancy Carlin…” SN&R

“One STRIKING thing is these female athletes seem to behave just like we think their male counterparts do. They’re rude and crude and have built a sense of camaradarie.” SACRAMENTO PRESS

“[The Wolves] stars nine TALENTED actresses who had me CONVINCED that a REAL-LIFE female sports team had wandered in off the street to warm up and practice before their game.” OUTWORD MAGAZINE

“Capital Stage’s INSIGHTFUL, season-opening production… SHINES A BRIGHT LIGHT on…teenage female athletes, and DeLappe’s AUTHENTIC DIALOGUE makes it all the more COMPELLING.” THE SACRAMENTO BEE

“The TIME FLIES BY, which makes for a COMPELLING RIDE for the audience.” CAPRADIO

“This is the kind of play that really works in the intimacy of CapStage’s theatre… We are right there with them. WE ARE THE WOLVES.” KARMA WATCHES
