How do I exchange my subscription tickets to a different date?
It’s easy to switch your dates for a show at Capital Stage. If you find a conflict in your schedule, you can request a new performance date by mail, fax, or phone. Please notify the box office AT LEAST 24 hours in advance of your original date. You must stop at the box office the night of your new performance to pick up your new tickets. For subscribers, there’s no cost or limit to this service as long as you exchange for a date within your plan. Call (916) 995-5464 for details.

What happens if I missed a show because of an emergency?
We understand — emergencies do happen. We all want the same thing — for you to see the shows you’ve chosen. Please call our box office at (916) 995-5464 as soon as possible. Though we cannot give you a free set of additional tickets, we’ll do everything we can to get you in.

Can you donate tickets to the non-profit I work with for a fundraising raffle?
Capital Stage will support fellow non-profit organizations by providing ticket vouchers for use in an auction or fundraiser. One request per organization will be honored per calendar year. Eligible organizations include non-profits, schools, universities, foundations and churches. Vouchers are not valid for special events, holiday performances (i.e. Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Eve). All shows are subject to availability. Please note that donated ticket vouchers cannot be redeemed for cash or applied toward the cost of a subscription.

Because of the high volume of requests we receive, we ask that you adhere to the following guidelines:

  • All requests must be submitted in writing on official organization letterhead.
  • All requests must be received at least six weeks in advance of the event date.
  • Please describe the type of event and the beneficiary.
  • Please include the name, address and phone number of the contact person for the organization.
  • Requests are reviewed and responded to by mail only. This process can take up to six weeks. No phone calls, please.
  • If approved, you will receive your voucher at least two weeks before your event.

Requests may be mailed to: Ticket Donation Requests, Capital Stage, 2215 J Street, CA 95816

Can I bring my kids to a show?
Capital Stage is noted for bringing intimate, bold productions to our region and we encourage young adults to experience the feeling of a live performance. Children age sixteen and up are welcome at CapStage unless specifically noted in the production’s description. If you have questions about the appropriateness of a show’s content for your child, please contact the Box Office at (916) 995-5464. Babies and infants are not permitted inside the theater even if sitting on an adult’s lap. Parents should judge whether their children can sit quietly and comfortably for the length of the performance, without distracting other members of the audience.

Are you handicapped accessible?
Capital Stage is handicapped accessible, with space for a limited number of wheelchairs in our first row. Please inform our box office staff of any needs when purchasing your tickets.

What if I’m late for a show?
Due to the design of our theatre, we cannot guarantee seating for late arrivals or for patrons who leave the theatre during the performance. As a courtesy to our artists and our audiences, late arrivals will be seated in a suitable location by our ushers, only if possible and at the appropriate intervals.

Can I have an event at your theatre before or after a show?
It’s easy for your group, class or organization to enjoy great theatre at Capital Stage…and inexpensive! With savings up to $4 off each full-priced ticket, a theatre outing can be an ideal part of your group’s event or fundraiser. We’ll help you plan your event with special ticket prices and reception space. Contact our box office at (916) 995-5464 and ask for the group sales manager.

Do you rent out your space?
Please contact Capital Stage Administrative office at (916) 476-3116 for rental availability.
